Mumbai: It’s just been day one of the petrol pump strike in Maharashtra and Mumbai's commuters are already on slippery grounds.
With most petrol pumps in the city running dry by early morning, the traffic might soon be forced to come to a grinding halt.
"What can we do, we have become mere puppets in the hands of the administration," says a commuter.
It's these thoughts and empty petrol pumps that Mumbaikars have been witness to since early morning on Monday.
With the week just beginning and with the Monday morning blues still lingering undoubtedly there was too much chaos.
A daily commuter Anil Solanki says, “We are facing a lot of problems. Wherever we go, we are only seeing boards that the pumps are closed. We have no clue what the reason is."
Taxis going empty handed just tell the sorry tale and with no seeming end to the protests, the common man just cannot gather what is in store for him.
Taxis and auto rickshaw may go off roads from Tuesday, which does not spell good news for Mumbaikars.
Taxi driver Mohan Kamble says, “If the pumps are closed today, then no vehicles will come onto the roads tomorrow. Because, petrol costs Rs 50 per litre, it is unaffordable."
It's a problem the average motorist in Mumbai has to face without having absolutely any choice.
With stocks of fuel vanishing faster than the wink of an eye and with no solution emerging, the situation is just going to get worse with every passing day.
