Mumbai: In its latest attempt to enter India, Britain’s grocery homeshopping service giant Tesco could join hands with Mahindra and Mahindra.
When it comes to choosing partners, companies can be choosy.
French retailer Carrefour can't decide who it will walk with down the Indian retail aisles.
And Britain's Tesco was believed to be serious with the Tatas. But now the company just might be favourably disposed towards Mahindra and Mahindra.
Mahindra and Mahindra also wants to diversify into retail in a big way and Tesco could be the answer to its dreams.
Mahindra and Mahindra Executive Director Arun Nanda met Tesco officials in London recently. The Mahindra group had previously explored a tie-up with Wal-Mart.
Mahindra and Mahindra drive into retail extends to its agro-business, Shubh Labh, supplying fresh produce to retailers. But Mahindra wants more. And a good partner would help. Still, it's staying mum.
