New Delhi: The reported involvement of Army officers in the Malegaon blast case has bruised the image of the Indian Army, but Defence Minister A K Antony has said the Army will cooperate with the Maharashtra ATS.
"We will give full cooperation to Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorism Squad in the ongoing investigation. One or two aberrations out of the 13 lakh Armed Forces personnel should not be viewed in the wrong perspective. You cannot deny the selfless service offered by the Armed Forces as a whole and a few aberrations should be seen only as isolated cases," Antony said.
Lt Col Srikant Purohit was arrested for allegedly supplying money and explosives for the September 29 Malegaon blast. The officer was posted at the Army Corps Training College and Centre at Pachmarhi in Madhya Pradesh.
Purohit is suspected to have helped bomb blast Sadhvi Pragya Thakur Singh, retired Army officer Ramesh Upadhyaya and his associate Sharad Kulkarni, who are all under arrest, in procuring RDX for the blasts.
