Mumbai: Chandrapalsingh Thakur is a worried but proud father. His daughter Pragya is accused in the Malegaon blast case, but the Hindu ascetic’s father still believes his daughter's stature merits worship, even by him.
“I'm proud of my daughter. She has been able to fulfill what I wanted to do. So I consider her divine and worship her photo." Thakur says.
Thakur is a staunch RSS man but privately even he admits his daughter may have made mistakes.
“99 per cent she is innocent but one per cent, being human there is a chance that she may have done the wrong thing,” he says.
But Pragya’s mother has no such doubts.
"We have full faith in our daughter and I wish the police release our daughter. The police have never done the right thing,” Says Sarladevi Thakur.
Meanwhile a court in Nashik has permitted the Mumbai ATS to conduct a narco test on Pragya Thakur.
Police had moved court after she and two co-accused kept changing statements. Police think Pragya is hiding information; the politicians think she did more.
"In fact, I have a doubt that this group could have also planted the failed bombs at Surat,” Union Textiles Minister, Shankersinh Vaghela, says.
Hindu organisations meanwhile are up in arms over the Pragya’s arrest. The Vadodara Youth Group even burnt effigies of Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh and Home Minister Shivraj Patil as a mark of protest.
