New Delhi: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has warned that the West Bengal state government would be responsible for any untoward incident during the Lalbazar gherao.
The TMC chief was talking on the proposed TMC Youth Congress workers’ protest at Kolkata's Police Headquarters against the arrest of some of its leaders.
The TMC leaders had been arrested in connection with a recent street violence in which the police were attacked.
The state administration has decided to issue prohibitory orders and set up police pickets on all roads leading to Lalbazar.
The CPM's youth wing has also announced that it will resist the Trinamool's gherao.
Mamata Banerjee though has maintained that the protests which will otherwise be peaceful could turn ugly if there is any provocation.
