Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha DG BB Mohanty has said that the man arrested from Kerala is not his son Bitti Mohanty, who was convicted of raping a German tourist in 2006. Bitti had jumped parole in 2006 after being sentenced to seven years imprisonment and was on the run. On Friday, the Kerala Police claimed to have arrested Bitti, who they said was working at the State Bank of Travancore since June 2012.
Sources said that before reaching Kannur, Bitti was hiding in Andhra Pradesh. Bitti had reportedly changed his identity and was using alias Raghav Raj.
Meanwhile, the man arrested from Kerala is likely to be produced in court on Monday. A team of the Rajasthan Police will reach the state on Monday to take him into custody.
