Rajasthan: Man assaulted as punishment for sexual assault by son

Jodhpur: Some people of a local community allegedly thrashed a person in Birai village near Jodhpur claiming that his son had raped a girl of their community, police said on Sunday.

According to Kishan Lal, SHO (Kherapa), some people of 'Nat' community blackened Lala Ram's face, cut his hair and moustache and dragged him behind a motorcycle on Thursday evening, after they couldn't find his son Hasti Ram who they claim had raped a girl of their community on Wednesday.

Lala Ram registered a police complaint against 10 persons on Saturday, and acting on this complaint three of them were arrested on Sunday, IGP DK Jain said.

The local community people blackened the man\'s face, cut his hair, moustache and dragged him behind a bike.

On the other hand, the accused on Sunday registered a counter complaint alleging that Hasti Ram had raped a girl of their community and to take revenge they had beat up his father Lala Ram.

The SHO said the girl would be subjected to medical examination on Monday.

The delay in filing the complaint from both sides could be attributed to settlement efforts on Panchayat level, Lal said.
