Man avenges dads murder after 17 years

RAMNAD: Seventeen years after his father was murdered, a man killed his father’s alleged murderer, police said on Sunday.
According to police, 17 years ago, Kasiram, a resident of Sankarppanpatti, got into a verbal altercation with some persons over the installation of street lights in the village.
Later, a group, comprising another local resident, Kalimuthu and his relatives allegedly attacked Kasiram with deadly weapons.
Kasiram, who sustained serious injuries in the attack, subsequently succumbed.
Kasiram’s son, Ramaguru, was only seven years old then. Following the incident, the family moved to a nearby village, Thoppudaipatti.
Ramaguru took up several jobs to sustain his family and even managed to get his four sisters married. He then moved to Coimbatore for work.
However, 17 years after his father’s death, the thirst for revenge brought Ramaguru back to Sankarppanpatti.
He chose to return on Friday, while the four-day-long Meenakshi Amman temple festival was underway.
Armed with a sickle, Ramaguru hid beside a thorny bush and waited, knowing that Kalimuthu would soon pass by.
Meanwhile, Kalimuthu was on his way to witness a drama show, when a waiting Ramaguru attacked him with the sickle, killing him on the spot.
Later, Ramaguru surrendered before the police personnel who were deployed on bandobust duty in view of the temple festival.
He was immediately taken to the police station.
The Peraiyur police registered a case and remanded him in prison, after producing him in court on Saturday.
