London: A Briton has shelled out £6000 for a car he originally bought 50 years ago for £23.
David Osten, 69, bought the white 1928 Austin Seven when he was a student in 1958. It was while driving it that he met his future wife, Jill, who, he muses, fell more for the vehicle than for him.
He sold the car in 1960 for a profit of £8.
Years on he yearned for the car. He started tracking it on the internet through its number plate and finally located its current owner in Bristol.
The man asked him to match an offer of £6000 which Osten paid immediately.
United with his car once again, grandfather Osten of Chale Green, Isle of Wight told The Telegraph, "It was a bit like meeting an old friend you have not seen for 50 years. It was both strange and familiar at the same time."
