New Delhi: The Delhi Police has charged a man with conspiring to kill actress Mallika Sherawat.

The accused, Rajesh Dalal, was arrested in Sangli, Maharashtra, four days ago.

"In an interview Mallika had said that people of Haryana are uneducated, girls are discriminated against. So I went there to collect some information on her and kill her," Dalal says.

Dalal was handed over to the police two days ago after he confessed that he was conspiring to kill the Bollywood actress.

The 'bold' actress, however, says that death threats do not scare her.

"Death threats do not scare me but I do want to make one thing clear that it is not my intention to upset or offend the sensitivity and sensibility of my people. I respect our culture and traditions," Mallika says.

"However, I do feel that women should be empowered and have the ability to stand on their own feet and earn a living and make their own career, which is what I am trying to do," Mallika adds.

Having earned rave reviews for her performance in the film Pyaar Ke Side Effects, the actress will be appearing on screen soon in an item song in Mani Ratnam's Guru and opposite Kamal Haasan in Dashavataram.
