London: Brazilian superstar Robinho is overjoyed at the treatment he has received from the fans at Manchester City.

Manchester City have a host of fine attacking players. Benjani, Jo and Darius Vassell are now all fit again and performing well.

Shaun Wright-Phillips has been on fire since returning from Chelsea, and Stephen Ireland and Elano also add potent attacking threats from midfield.

Throw in youngsters Ched Evans and Daniel Sturridge to the mix and you have an array of attackers that would be the envy of many clubs in Europe.

One name stands out amongst all the others, though: Robinho. The little Brazilian was the first player signed by City's new mega-bucks board, and was their eye-catching statement of intent about just how ambitious they were for the club.

Robinho has been much more than just a token 'galactico' type though. He has made a real contribution to City's season so far.

He scored his seventh goal of the season against Twente FC in the UEFA Cup on Thursday night, producing an outstanding finish and being denied a hat-trick only because two more efforts struck the post.

It was a performance that left the crowd purring. And it is the support and affection that the player has received from that crowd that has left him overwhelmed.

"They treat me like Maradona over here, " he told Brazilian magazine Placar. "I feel a little embarrassed at times.

"I hope I can repay all this love on the field. I just can't score any goals by hand!"

The player also thinks that his reputation will not be diminished by playing for City in the UEFA Cup rather than the Champions League, and is determined to prove that he is the world's best player.

"It can be done -and it will be done. You can be sure. Many people think it's difficult because of the team.

"But I think it's even easier, because here I will always start. At Madrid I was only used for important matches."
