Man found dead, suicide suspected

A 50-year-old man has allegedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling of his house at Haripur Road under Purighat police limits here.

The man, identified as Antarjami Behera, was living in the rented house allegedly with his second wife and a daughter. He was found dead hanging from the ceiling by his wife on Saturday night. The woman had gone out with her daughter and on returning she found the door locked from inside. As he did not respond to her calls, she called for help. The door was broken and Behera was discovered dead.

Behera hailed from Gopalpur under Sadar police limits and used to work as an Amin. His family, including his first wife and a son, are staying at Gopalpur, police said.

While the cause of his suicide is yet to be ascertained, police have registered a case of unnatural death in this connection.
