Jaipur: An auto-rickshaw driver in Rajasthan has Congress President Sonia Gandhi's name tattooed on his chest at least 125 times although he is not a party member.
Ashok Pandit, who lives in Pali town, reveres Sonia “like a goddess”.
"According to me, today's politicians can go to any extent to get undue benefits. Amid them Sonia is one leader who has even refused the post of prime minister for the welfare of the country," he says.
She had the spirit of sacrifice missing in other leaders, he said, referring to Sonia's refusal to accept the prime minister's post when her party came to power in New Delhi in 2004.
Pandit also has Sonia’s posters pasted inside his vehicle.
It was at a fair that he got the politician’s name tattooed on his chest 125 times - not only an expensive process at Rs.500 but also a painful one.
"My only wish is to meet Sonia Gandhi personally," Pandit said.
