New Delhi: A man was killed during celebratory firing at an engagement ceremony in New Delhi, police said on Monday.
Pankaj, 23, a private company employee, was killed Sunday around 10 pm at the engagement function of his cousin Mohit at Ganga Garden in west Delhi, police said.
The celebratory shots were fired by guests at the function, who fled after the incident.
"The accused had consumed alcohol and were present on a dais at the function venue. They took out a revolver and fired several shots in the air," a police official said.
One of the bullets allegedly pierced the chest of Pankaj, who died on way to hospital.
Police said the accused has been identified and a murder case registered.
