New Delhi: An employee of a major technology company was detained in New Delhi on Saturday for allegedly making a hoax bomb call that led to a GoAir flight being grounded for over an hour.

Abhinash Gupta was charged with causing panic, wrongful restraint and giving false information.

Gupta was late for a Bangalore-bound GoAir flight and allegedly called up the airline’s commercial manager in Mumbai at around 1040 hrs IST, saying there was a bomb on the plane.

Following the call, the GoAir flight G8201 was grounded and passengers asked to disembark.

The bomb disposal searched the aircraft, which was parked in the bay at the Indira Gandhi International Airport domestic terminal. No bomb was found and the plane was cleared to resume its journey.
