New Delhi: The Congress too, it seems, has come into the attack mode. On Saturday, while campaigning for the party in Gujarat, that goes to polls in December, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar took a dig at Chief Minister Narendra Modi, calling him 'Lahu Purush' over the 2002 riots.
This is the first time during this campaign that a Congress leader has targeted Modi over the 2002 riots. "Gujarat has languished during Modi's rule. This 'lahu purush' is afraid of fighting from his own constituency as he knows he will not win that seat," Aiyar said in Jamnagar.
Modi had essentially packaged himself as 'Lauha Purush' after taking over the reins of power in Gujarat in 2001.
