Cebu: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao met for about 30 minutes on the sidelines of the 10th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit at Cebu in the Philippines on Sunday.
The PM has accepted an invitation to visit China.
The meeting comes ahead of talks on the border issue next week. National Security Advisor M K Narayanan will meet his Chinese counterpart Dai Bingguo on Tuesday to push forward discussions on the boundary dispute. Discussions between India and ASEAN on a free trade pact have made slow progress.
The Prime Minister will, on Monday be involved in key discussions with ASEAN and other leaders on issues relating to trade, security and reducing dependence on imported oil.
On the issues of the border talks between India and China, it was said that this is our problem and we need to resolve it.
Two senior officials were urged to carry out the task with greater vigour and more innovatively, “ Narayanan said.
