New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who underwent a coronary bypass surgery in January, is "perfectly fine and fit", it was announced on Sunday after a medical check-up.

Manmohan Singh, 76, visited the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) earlier in the day for a routine examination and spent about 15 minutes there.

He was attended to by doctors from the Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Sciences department, AIIMS Medical Superintendent D K Sharma told IANS. "He is perfectly fine and fit," Sharma said.

Manmohan Singh was operated upon at the AIIMS January 24 to remove five arterial blockages. He returned to his 7 Race Course Road residence February 1 after a week of post-operative care at the hospital.

The prime minister's health was being monitored at his home by a team of doctors led by his personal physician K S Reddy. Manmohan Singh was advised six weeks rest after the surgery.
