New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday underwent a surgery for benign enlargement of the prostate gland at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
"The procedure was performed to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy of the prostate (benign enlargement of the prostate gland)," Prime Minister's media adviser Sanjaya Baru said, reported PTI.
Baru added that the Prime Minister was had had a stable post operative course.
Singh was admitted to AIIMS at 0600 hrs, IST and the surgery lasted till 0900 hrs, IST.
Singh will rest for the next two days at AIIMS and will be discharged from the hospital on Monday morning, Baru said.
The surgery was performed by a team of doctors led by
Professor N P Gupta, head of the Department of Urology at
AIIMS.
