New Delhi: At 76, he is called one of the fittest prime ministers for his age, packing in 18 hours a day despite having undergone a bypass surgery.
Now five years after an angioplasty, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh could again undergo another angioplasty. as part of his tests this week. He has already undergone an angiography.
But sources say the Prime Minister is unlikely to be on the operating table till after the January 26 parade.
Sources say an angioplasty means he could be back in action within a week but a bypass surgery could restrict a hectic schedule for at least a month.
Here is how the prime minister's health has fared:
- Singh underwent a bypass in the UK 18 years ago
- In 2004, he had an angioplasty to open clogged arteries
- He has previously been operated for carpal tunnel syndrome on both wrists.
- In Sep, 2007, he had a prostate surgery.
- In May 2008, Singh had cataract operation.
On Friday, the PM's medical board meets to take a final call on whether it’s an angioplasty or a bypass the Prime Minister may have to undergo.
