Ranchi: Nearly a dozen passengers were injured when six coaches of a passenger train derailed on Thursday night after Maoist rebels blew up a stretch of railway track in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district, a railway official said.
According to railway sources, who asked not to be identified, the train from Jamshedpur's Tatanagar railway station got derailed after Maoist rebels blew up a section of the railway track.
According to police sources, around a dozen passengers have been injured in the incident. The place where the train got derailed is situated in deep jungle where there is no road.
"The Tatanagar to Bilaspur passenger train got derailed between Manoharpur and Pasota railway stations. We have rushed a medical van," Vivek Srivastav, PRO of Chkradharpur railway division, told IANS.
Asked about the cause of derailment, he said: "Right now, we cannot say anything".
