Click to play videoMumbai: Markets have opened higher on the back of positive Asian cues and buying seen in capital goods, banking, FMCG, technology and realty stocks. Market breadth was positive; about 1853 shares have advanced while 1038 shares declined. Nearly 247 shares are unchanged.
At 0956 hrs IST, the Sensex was up 189 points at 13,643 and Nifty up 53 points at 4,069. Nifty July Futures was trading at 27 points discount. CNX Midcap shot up by 90 points at 5,239.
Amongst frontliners, Ambuja Cements, ICICI Bank, BHEL, Suzlon Energy, Unitech, Reliance Infra, JP Associates, ITC, Tata Comm, L&T, HDFC, SBI and Infosys have gained while M&M, Reliance Ind, Cairn, Hero Honda and Tata Power fell.
Asian markets were trading higher. Hang Seng was up 1.5 per cent, Nikkei 0.8 per cent, Straits Times 0.93 per cent, Taiwan Weighted 0.7 per cent and Kospi 0.2 per cent.
US markets were shut on Friday on Independence day.

- Nifty 3900 Put adds 5.9 lakh shares in Open Interest
- Nifty 3700 Put adds 5.7 lakh shares in Open Interest
- Nifty 3800 Put adds 4.12 lakh shares in Open Interest
- Nifty 4000 Call sheds 2.2 lakh shares in Open Interest
