Maruti car deliveries hit by fuel price hike

New Delhi: Sky rocketing fuel prices have made Maruti Suzuki’s latest fuel-efficient cars hot on the consumers list.

But rising demand is taking its toll on the car manufacturing giant, with buyers having to wait for almost six to nine months for the Swift hatchback diesel and the newly-launched sedan, Swift Dzire.

Although Maruti says it has enhanced its manufacturing capacity from 1 lakh to 1.7 lakh units at their Manesar plant, the end consumer is not satisfied.

On a website for complaints, consumers claim dealers have made false promises on the delivery time and have even asked for additional payment to speed up the process.

When contacted, Maruti says dealers have been informed in advance on the number of cars they would be allocated over the next six months. They also say appropriate action would be taken against any errant dealers.

As Maruti struggles to meet the rising demand analysts say this may result in postponing the launch of the SX4 Diesel.
