New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki has shut its third shift (Shift C) at its engine plant in Manesar due to low demand. It has cut its production to align with the demand.

Maruti has now cut its diesel engine production by one-third, according to sources. With the third shift shutting down, Maruti has asked over 200 workers to go an indefinite leave, say sources.

This is the first largescale downsizing by Maruti since the violence at its Manesar plant in 2012.
