New Delhi: Massive rescue operations are on in the flood-hit states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and also parts of Maharashtra.
In Andhra Pradesh, heavy inflow has reached highest level which have become a danger to power stations.
In view of heavy inflow into the Srisailam Reservoir, the inflow has reached the highest level of 895 feet against the total capacity of 885 feet threatening the underground power station at the left gate of the dam.The water was overflowing from gate number one and efforts were on to save the power station by putting sand bags and other material to arrest the water entering into the station
600 army personnel have been deployed in Andhra Pradesh with boats and other rescue equipment.
Yelahanka Air Force station Air Commodre, V S Bharti said that the worst affected areas were along the Tungabadram area.
He also said that 43 people had been rescued so far.
Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, K Rosaiah, also made an aerial survey of the affected areas and 3600 kg of relief material have been dropped on Saturday.
Meanwhile in Karnataka, a team of 9 divers and medical assistant fully equipped with Gemini boats (rubberised boat) rescue gear and first aid is at Gadag(In Karnataka) and operating in a place called Haliyal(In Karnataka).
Another two teams operating at Arga, Chendia and Todur have already rescued over 130 persons and moved them to higher grounds and have also recovered a dead body which has been handed over to the Police.
Besides this, another team of an officer and 20 sailors have left for Kadwad about 12 Kms north of Karwar, to assist in rescue operations due to landslides and house collapse.
Around 20 people have been reportedly trapped in a landslide near Karwar in Karnataka.
The Bangalore to Secunderabad trains have been cancelled. Train Numbers: 2786 Kacheguda Express from Bangalore to Kacheguda, 2649 Sampark Kranti from Yesvantpur to Kacheguda 7604 Kacheguda Express from Yesvantpur to Kacheguda.
The floods crisis has also spread to parts of Maharashtra as well.
Heavy rains in Sindhudurg district have caused water in the Mankuli river to rise to alarming levels.
The rains have also triggered landslides in the Karul and Amboli ghats.
However, there are no reports of any casualties. The Mumbai-Goa national highway has been closed down, as water is flowing over the Pulsan bridge into Sherale village.
There are reports of severe waterlogging in Dhuri Temb, Pinguli and Nabar-wadi villages as well.
Meanwhile, rains have lessened in some parts of the state, but the Mumbai-Goa highway remains closed Water levels in the Mankuli river.
Rail traffic has resumed but some trains on the Konkan railway are running late.
