New Delhi: There is good news for women working with Government organisations. They can avail two-and-a-half-years of paid maternity leave to take care of their children.
The order became effective from September 1 this year.
The Government has increased maternity leave for its employees to 180 days from the existing 135 days for each of their two children.
Women employees can also take paid leave up to two years during their career for taking care of their children. This won't affect their seniority at work.
A woman employee can also avail the child care leave in any combination till her children are 18 years of age.
However, she can avail these leaves only for two children.
With the Government luring women employees with this order, semi-government establishments are soon expected to follow suit.
