Colombo: Allrounder Angelo Mathews has been appointed Sri Lanka's Test and ODI captain for one year. The 25-year-old has been handed over the reigns by Mahela Jayawardene, who decided to step down at the end of Australia tour, for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Dinesh Chandimal has been appointed the T20 skipper and will deputise for Mathews in Tests and ODIs. Lasith Malinga named as the vice captain of the T20 side.
Many old faces have been left out from the 20-member squad, while a couple of new face have been included. Veteran batsman Thilan Samarweera has been dropped. along with opener Tharanga Paranavitana and wicketkeeper Prasanna Jayawardene. Spinner Ajantha Mendis, who last played a Test in May 2011 against England, has been recalled.
The new faces are: Batsmen Ashen Silva and Kithuruwan Vithanage, seamer Dushmantha Chameera, and offspinner Tharindu Kaushal.
Bangladesh will tour Sri Lanka for two Tests, three ODIs and one T20 international.
