New Delhi: The recent blasts and arrests have stirred up a lot of politics in Uttar Pradesh as all the suspects belong to the state. While Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Abu Azmi has questioned the police’s version, Chief Minister Mayawati has accused the SP for making UP a terror hub.

Politics on terror heated up with Mayawati accusing Mulayam Singh and his party (SP) for spreading terror in the state.

These accusations were denied by SP’s Muslim face Abu Azmi.

"Mulayam Singh did not ban SIMI because there is no evidence against it,’ says Azmi.

The matter has become a political issue in UP with police claiming that most terrorists involved in blasts had association with Azamgarh district in eastern UP - like Saif apprehended after the Delhi encounter.

Saif’s father Shadab Ahemd was SP’s vice president of Azamgarh district and was removed from his post within hours after of his son's arrest.

Mayawati is now using this very fact to attack her main political adversary in the state by accusing Maulayam Singh Yadav and his party for the spread of terrorism in UP.

"No one but the previous SP government is responsible for the present state of affairs in UP," says Mayawati.

Most of SP’s top leaders have been silent on the SIMI and the arrest of its cadre in the wake of the serial blasts in major cities of the country. At the same time party MP Abu Azmi went to meet the family of the main accused in the Ahmedabad blasts Abu Bashar.

"I can't believe that Shahdab's son was involved in terror activities," says Azmi.

With terror very much on the election campaign for the upcoming General Elections it is the political fallout of the Delhi blasts and encounter, which has become a matter of worry for political parties preparing for the polls in the state. UP sends maximum number of MPs to the Lok Sabha.
