Mayawati announces BSP's support to UPA on FDI vote in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi: BSP supremo Mayawati on Thursday declared that her party will support the UPA government on FDI vote in the Rajya Sabha (RS). "The government's proposal on FDI has some loopholes but the plus point for the current FDI policy of Central government is that states won't be forced to implement it," said Mayawati.

With Mayawati's announcement, the UPA is now assured of 117 votes versus 99 against with the nine MPs of the Samajwadi Party likely to abstain.

The BSP supremo also attacked the BJP and said that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj was suffering from the 'sour grapes' syndrome. Following an uproar in the house on the Dalit leader's comment, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath defended her by saying that the use of the word 'sour grapes' was not unparliamentary.

Mayawati hit out at BJP and alleged that the party used CBI against her in the Taj Corridor case. "CBI's misuse by this government has often been alleged. I would show how BJP misused CBI," said Mayawati.
