New Delhi: Just a day before the BSP reveals its cards, the Supreme Court will be taking up a review petition in the Mayawati disproportionate assets (DA) case in an open court hearing on Tuesday. The petitioner had asked the apex court to review its July 6 judgment which had quashed the CBI's FIR against the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister.
The petition was filed by an Utter Pradesh native Kamlesh Verma who was an intervener in the case filed by Mayawati in the apex court for quashing of the DA case against her. Seeking review of the July 6 judgement, the petitioner contended that the apex court had decided the case merely on technical grounds without appreciating the evidence collected by the CBI against Mayawati.
The Supreme Court had on July 6 had quashed a nine-year-long disproportionate assets case against her and pulled up the CBI for exceeding its jurisdiction by lodging an FIR against her without any direction from it.
