Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Monday demanded President's rule in Uttar Pradesh after a police officer was killed in clashes in Minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya's constituency Kunda. Villagers went on a rampage on Sunday after a gram pradhan was murdered as a result of land dispute with Raja Bhaiya's driver.
"Even after a year in office, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has not been able to get its act together. If police are not secure, what can common people expect?," the former UP chief minister said.
Wife of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Zia-ul-Haq had filed an FIR against Raja Bhaiya after the incident. The FIR has been registered under sections of murder and attempt to murder.
