New Delhi: UP Chief Minister Mayawati has ordered a probe into the alleged irregularities in the states Combined Pre-medical test after violent protests from students across the state.
In a late night development on Friday, Mayawati stopped the counseling for the UP Combined Pre Medical test, which had run into controversies.
Angry students carried protest against the CPMT results declared on June 14. They set fire to a bus with more than 40 people on board in Gomti Nagar area of Lucknow.
Luckily all of them escaped unhurt. Violence took place in other parts of the state including Varanasi and Allahabad.
This at least compelled the Mayawati government to investigate into the charges of discrepancies in results of the CPMT by forming a two-member committee under the Director of Medical Education and Medical Education Secretary.
A Student from Allahabad says, “In the exam process wrong code was used and entered. We want whosoever is concerned should take proper action.”
The exams were conducted for the first time by Poorvanchal University, which claims that that there was no fowl play.
But students allege that the exam results were tampered.
However the administration has arrested four people in connection with the violence on Friday. It has also promised to take action against those involved in acts of vandalism.
