Mayawati writes to PM for SPG cover, fears threat to life

New Delhi: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying she fears for her life. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief has sought more security.

In her letter to the Prime Minister, Mayawati has specifically asked for Special Protection Group (SPG) cover claiming she's on a terror hit list.

The BSP chief's security cover was downgraded by the new Samajwadi Party government after the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister has specifically asked for SPG cover claiming she is on a terror hit list.

As many as 400 extra security personnel, who were protecting her, were withdrawn following the order of the new Uttar Pradesh government.
