Mazurier case: French President says he has full faith in Indian judicial system

New Delhi: Refusing to take sides in a case in which an employee of French consulate in Bangalore was charged with raping his daughter, French President Francois Hollande on Thursday said he has full faith in Indian judicial system.

Maintaining that the mother of the girl could meet officials in the presidency, Hollande said, "We are not here to take sides but to hear (their side of the story)." Hollande was asked whether the Presidency officials will meet the mother, Suja Jones Mazurier, who had requested an audience with Hollande.

The President said if the mother of the girl wants to meet officials of Presidency, she can meet them. French employee Pascal Mazurier was arrested in June last year on the charge of raping his three-and-a-half-year-old daughter.

The wife of Mazurier had requested a meeting with Hollande during his visit to India. Lawyers representing Mazurier were received at Hollande's office at Elysee Palace in Paris last week which was criticised by Suja Jones Mazurier.

A local court in Bangalore had denied permission to Mazurier last week to visit his children. His wife had earlier secured an order from the court restraining her husband from meeting his three minor children.
