New Delhi: Hillary Clinton leads the Democratic race so far— with states accounting for 232 delegates in her favour— she won over delegates in four states Florida, Nevada, Michigan and New Hampshire.
South Carolina voted for Barack Obama — who also won Iowa - and now has the support of 158 delegates
Obama has benefited from younger voters and much of Hollywood. To win the democrat nomination a candidate will need 2,025 delegates.
In the Republican race, decorated Vietnam war hero John McCain is leading, having come from behind to win Florida, South Carolina and New Hampshire, totaling the support of 97 delegates.
Mike Huckabee, the governor of Arkansas surprised many by winning Iowa, and commands 29 delegates so far. The magic number for republicans now totals to 1,191.
Behind Huckabee is Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, with 74 delegates so far. This very successful management consultant and venture capitalist has had a smooth run in Nevada, Michigan and Wyoming but the loss in Florida could cost him the Republican nomination.
