New Delhi: Kids of Bal Bharti School in the capital are taking special lessons for dengue. And the teachers are none other than the MCD officers.
But ask the students about the plight in class - Do mosquitoes bite you in the class? Pop comes an answer, "Yes, sometimes."
Walk into the Janaki Devi Memorial College of Delhi University and you will find coolers full of breeding mosquitoes. And when MCD officers issue the challan, the Principal, Indu Anand, says, "At that moment, the staff must be on leave, but there is no mosquitos breeding in my institute at all, anywhere."
The gate of the Delhi Government Hospital dons the dengue prevention poster, but inside, the hospital is full of infection.
And when the challan's issued, the Health Minister of Delhi has a thing or two to say.
"As far as stopping breeding of mosquitoes is concenerd, everyone should take responsibility for it, especially the hospitals. Its unfortunate to see breeding in hospitals," says Yoganand Shastri. "I have issued 16 legal notices to the hospitals," he adds.
However, the big question is - in the wake of prolific mosquito breeding, how effective are dengue campaign drives?
