New Delhi: An angry crowd damaged buses and pelted stones at the police after a minor girl was raped inside a municipal school in the national capital on Friday. In the chaos, two policemen were injured. While the girl was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi hospital, the police detained a guard of the school and interrogated three staff members of the school, including two teachers.
The condition of the girl, a seven-year-old, is said to be serious. Sources said that there was internal bleeding and the girl is currently under observation.
The incident took place in Mongolpuri in north-west Delhi on Thursday evening and it came to light on Friday morning when the parents of the victims approached police.
"The victim was raped by a man inside the school campus on Thursday. Her parents approached us on Friday morning and a case has been registered. The victim could not tell us anything about the attacker.
"We are investigating the case. We are questioning the male staff, including teachers and a guard," a senior police official said.
Sources said that according to the statement given to the police by the girl, the incident happened during school hours.
