Mumbai: A third year MBBS student from Mumbai's St George Hospital has accused Dr Rahul Deswal, a junior doctor at the same hospital of raping her.

Dr Rahul was a senior of the victim and was on deputation to St George Hospital while he was completing his final year of Master of Surgery.

"He first proposed her some time back and then after promising to marry her, he raped her," said Senior Inspector, MRA Marg Police station, Sanjeev Kokil,

Rahul, a resident of Haryana, allegedly raped her one year ago after spiking her drinks. He then took her obscene pictures on his laptop and started blackmailing her.

He even physically tortured her and raped her at least eight-10 times in the last one year under the guise of marrying her.

Police have confiscated Rahul's laptop and mobile and sent them for further examination.

They have also booked him for criminal intimidation and taking advantage of his official position to rape a woman in the same hospital where he was serving.

Meanwhile, as the medical report of the victim is awaited, Rahul is likely to be produced in a Magistrate Court on Wednesday.
