New Delhi: A small town girl with big dreams, Priyanka Chaudhary is now in the custody of the Meerut Police for murdering her parents on November 10. Priyanka has confessed to having killed her 70-year-old father, a retired engineer and her 65-year-old mother.
She was home to collect her marksheet on Monday when she allegedly committed the murder.
"My mother abused me. She said so what if I had been raped, it happens. She raised her hand, which is when I put my hand on her neck and pressed it hard," says Priyanka.
Police, too, say the murder was not a premeditated one.
SP Meerut city, Rakesh Jolly says, "On that particular day, she wanted to talk with her mother, but after two hours she made remarks that infuriated Priyanka and made her take the extreme step."
Priyanka's partner-in-crime was her close friend Anju. The two girls shared a room while studying in the Capital's South Delhi Polytechnic. Both allege that the extreme move was triggered by years of harrasment by their families.
"Our families didn't support us. She (Anju) is my family," says Priyanka.
For the people of this small town in Uttar Pradesh, news of former Miss Meerut murdering her parents comes as shock. They are still trying to come to terms with what drove this 26-year-old to commit this ghastly act.
Priyanka and Anju were produced at a court in Meerut on Thursday. They have been charged with murder and loot and have been sent to 14 days of judicial custody.
