Meerut: A minor scuffle between two groups of neighbours in Meerut turned violent leading to death of one person in Bhawanpur Thana area, police said on Sunday. 40-year-old Sushil, a resident of Pratap Nagar, got seriously injured in the brawl which broke out when his neighbour Sumit's pet dog entered his house, police said.
The fight turned violent as several others joined in and the two sides exchanged blows using sticks and iron rods, they said. Critically injured Sushil was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to injuries, they said.
Based on a complaint by victim's brother, accused Sumit and his brother Lalchand have been arrested, while six others have been booked in the case. The victim's side had earlier blocked the Meerut-Garh road demanding arrest of the accused, police added.
