Meet the cast of Victoria 203

Mumbai: Filling in the shoes of the gorgeous Saira Banu in the remake of Victoria No. 203 must have been quite a challenge, but actress Soniya Mehra isn’t worried about that or her American accent.

The newcomer, the daughter of ‘70s actor Vinod Mehra is looking forward to her debut in Anant Mahadevan's Victoria No. 203. But handling the horses and the classic Victoria proved to be a tough task.

“Well, there are so many incidents with my horse losing it's cool in crowds that completing the film became quite a challenge,” Soniya said.

The other female lead is actress Priti Jhangiani, who plays a moll in the film, a character which was not part of the original film.

“I’m quite excited that it’s not the regular kind of thing that I’ve been playing time and again,” Priti said.

The remake has veterans like Om Puri and Anupam Kher playing the comic duo who primarily chase the diamonds while the villain is comedy star Javed Jaffrey.

The film was shot at locations like Marine Drive in Mumbai and the National Highway 11 on the outskirts of the city but these places did prove troublesome for the makers of the film.

“When we were taking a shot of Om Puri and Anupam Kher asking for a lift on the highway, real truckers would keep stopping, which was really annoying,” director of the film, Anant Mahadevan said.

Shooting on location and sourcing a genuine Victoria tonga was done to maintain authenticity. And the film's producer Kamal Sadanah is confident that his remake will do justice to his father's original film.

“It's worked out fabulously and Anupam as well as Om Puri have more than done justice to the original pair,” Sadanah said.

So, will Victoria 203 repeat the success of the original at the box office? We'll have to wait and watch.
