Mumbai: Remember the famous dialogue from Jism: Ye jism pyaar nahi janta, janta hai to sirf bhook, jism ki bhook?

If you thought that it was Bipasha Basu's sensuous voice that did the trick, then you are wrong. Meet Mona Ghosh, Bipasha's voice in films like Jism, Raaz, Footpaath, Gunaah and Rudraskh.

“You get to see the whole scene before you dub, sometimes you get to see the whole film too. So you can make out the body language, their voice modulation, style of acting, speaking and then you try to adapt as much as you can, keeping the good things and doing away with the mistakes,” Mona said.

Starting out as a child artist, Mona has been dubbing for TV commercials and feature films for over two decades.

And the list of actresses for whom Mona has dubbed runs long – from Rani Mukherjee in Ghulam, Ameesha Patel in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Katrina Kaif in Sarkar and Humko Deewana Kar Gaye to Koena Mitra in Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena and Apna Sapna Money Money.

What’s more, she also has been the voice for quite a few Hollywood actresses as well.

“People are always shocked because not many people know that these kind of things go on behind the scenes. In that sense people do get a shock sometimes especially when it’s a big film or a big actress or a very successful film. And then it’s fun when you tell them that I am behind that voice,” Mona said.

After so many years in the industry, Mona said she now works on her terms and conditions but there is still one regret.

“I miss the recognition, but within the industry I have got a lot of recognition,” Mona said.
