Mumbai: The results of the Indian Institute of Technology - Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) 2007 for admission to the undergraduate courses in engineering are out.
Achin Bansal (Reg. No. 2088031) from IIT Delhi Zone has topped this year’s All India list of successful candidates. Ankita Sharma, daughter of a Nuclear Power Corporation of India official, has topped the exam amongst girls. CNN-IBN correspondent Vineeta Rao spoke to Ankita Sharma on her future plans.
Vineeta Rao: It must be a great feeling to have topped?
Ankita Sharma: Yes, it’s a great feeling though I did not expect such a high rank. I expected around 200.but I have ranked 55.
Vineeta Rao: What department do you see yourself joining?
Ankita Sharma: I will take up Computer Science or Electronics as my Professors and ex-students have recommended.
Vineeta Rao: There are 54 boys ahead of you. So do you think there should be a little more effort by the women who attempt this exam?
Ankita Sharma: I think more girls should take this exam. In my class, there were 80 boys and five girls who were preparing for it. There are very few girls who took the exam. Otherwise the ranks for girls would have been better.
