Mumbai: For 15-year-old Nihal Borkar from Goa, it was a dream come true. Chosen from among hundreds of entrants, Nihal was picked the winner of CNN-IBN's Main Bhi King contest for an act of bravery – last year Nihal had rescued a young boy from drowning.
Nihal was felicitated for his bravery by none other than actor Akshay Kumar. The icing on the cake was the presence of a handful of other stars too from Akshay's new film Singh is Kinng.
“I am really excited, it’s a very important day for me,” a visibly excited Nihal said.
Present with Nihal on his big day was his father, Ramakant Borkar, who was beaming with pride at his son's achievement.
"I am very proud of him and also thank CNN-IBN for giving us this opportunity,” Borkar said.
Along with Nihal, CNN-IBN also facilitated another hero's meeting with his idol.
Mumbai-based Mandeep Matharu has suffered from brittle bone disease since he was one. Although doctors predicted he would not be able to lead a normal life, Mandeep has not let his condition destroy his spirit. He is a keen investor in the stock market and an avid movie buff.
On Wednesday, Mandeep had the opportunity to meet his favourite star in person, Akshay Kumar. So it was a day when reel heroes rubbed shoulders with real heroes – a rare and special day for both.
