New Delhi: Two days after a bomb went off in Delhi’s Mehrauli area, the police still have no significant leads.
While Delhi Police have ruled out the possibility of Indian Mujahideen’s involvement, they suspect Mehrauli blast to be a handiwork of Bangladeshi immigrants.
Earlier in 2008, police arrested three Bangladeshi nationals, who were in possession of crude bombs, from West Bengal. They are believed to have links with three low-intensity blasts that were reported in the Mehrauli area this year.
Some police souces say Mehrauli blast resembles the Delhi serial blasts of 1996-98, which were carried out by a group led by Abdul Karim Tunda. They believe that some splinter groups which survived the crackdown then are now regrouping.
However, it still remains baffling as to why the case hasn’t been transferred to the Special Cell — a unit which is in-charge of probing terror attacks.
