Mentally-challenged woman raped by witch doctor

Jaipur: A 20-year-old mentally challenged girl was allegedly raped by a witch doctor who was approached by her family members for a cure for her ailment, police said on Saturday.

A first information report was registered against the man on Saturday at the Amber police station.

According to police, the girl, a resident of the city, had developed some mental illness and her family members thought that it was due to some evil spirit.

"Some people told them about a witch doctor named Mahesh Kumar, a resident of Sikar district. The family members called him up and requested him to visit their house to see the girl," Surendra Singh, officer in-charge of Amber police station, told.

He added that on the pretext of casting some spells, Mahesh asked the girl's family members to leave the house. "He said that for the spells to work the girl needed to be isolated. When the family members left, Mahesh allegedly raped the girl," said the officer.

"The girl's father then registered a case against Mahesh," said the officer.
