Thiruvananthapuram: DIC-K president K Muraleedharan on Tuesday said the merger with Congress was not in his party's agenda.
He added that the two parties had agreed that the issue would be taken up only if the UDF won the elections.
While pointing out that DIC-K's aim was to strengthen the party, he stated that presently, there was no need for hurried decision on merger.
Muraleedharan said he did not want to respond to UDF convenor P P Thankachan's comment that the tie-up with DIC-K in the recent elections was a mistake. Oommen Chandy or Ramesh Chennithala had not made such a remark, he said.
Instead, the elections had been a tough fight between UDF and LDF with the presence of his party in the UDF.
The DIC-K stood by its evaluation that both sides had lost votes as the idea behind the alliance could not be reached to the rank and file.
He asked the government to write off the agricultural loans of poor farmers and take immediate steps to prevent rain-related mishaps.
