'Messi is football's biggest star'

New Delhi UEFA president Michel Platini has said he sees Barcelona’s Leo Messi as world football’s biggest star.

"Messi is the star of stars in world football," Platini told fcbarcelona.com.

The former French international explained that while there was a wealth of talent on show at the recent FIFA Gala, where Messi was named FIFA World Player of the Year, the little Argentine stood head and shoulders above the competition.

"When I saw the eleven best players at the FIFA gala in December I knew they were all very good but Messi was the star of stars and then there was [Cristiano] Ronaldo and Kaka and all the rest," he concluded.
