Metro asked to clean up phenyl scene

Mumbai: Any publicity is good publicity - or is it? A bizarre obstacle has come in the way of Anurag Basu's Metro, post its release.

Six days after the release of the film, manufacturers of a floor-cleaning liquid realised that their product is being used in the film and has been passed off as phenyl.

This is the scene where actress Kangana Ranaut consumes the liquid and tries to commit suicide. A notice has been sent to the producers asking them to get rid of those scenes.

Says MD, Execl Home Care, Kiran Khubchandani, "Here is a movie that shows our product in a poor light and also refers it to as phenyl."

So far though, the director has heard of this only through the media. He says he had no intention of causing any damage to the product's image. Nor,he feels, will the sales of the product be affected in any way.

"I don't think people will stop buying phenyl. It's a small thing and has happened unknowingly happened," says Basu.

Well, one has heard of in-film product placements working in favour of the products but one figures such placements are not always welcome.
