Mumbai: The final patchwork of the latest UTV production Metro, in which Konkona Sen Sharma once again interprets the life of an ordinary girl, is over.
Konkona plays a 30 plus single girl waiting for the right guy to come along, and her character has touches of Bridget Jones in it.
"I suppose in a lot of ways this simple yet confused character is a little like Bridget,” says Konkona.
Metro boasts of a cast of actors rather than just stars. Featuring Kay Kay Menon, Konkona Sen Sharma , Irrfan khan and Sharman Joshi, the film is based on the life and times of today's Mumbaikars caught in the mad rat race of life.
And semi-autobiographical director Anurag Basu finds the presence of Shilpa Shetty an added bonus in his otherwise simple film.
"Lots of my friends and associates can relate to the characters and incidents in Metro. Now that Shilpa is here, we have had to increase the number of prints for overseas,” says the director.
And working along all the Bollywood’s top-notch actors, relative newcomer Gautam Kapoor is thrilled with the break he's got.
"I’m playing a radio jockey in the film. I don’t care about the length of my role,” he says.
So with housing EMIs on the rise, work pressures and tumbling marriages, Anurag Basu's performance oriented Metro might establish a connection with a fair share of the city's younger audience.
